Christmas in the Ward
Milwaukee's 37th annual Christmas in the Ward—kick off the season in the Historic Third Ward.
The Historic Third Ward celebrates the holidays with its 37th annual Christmas in the Ward, a free community gathering in Catalano Square. From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., families can enjoy live reindeer, costumed characters, roasted s'mores with Friends of Lakeshore Park, and plenty of food options including treats from local trucks. Hot beverages—cocoa, cider, mulled wine, and beer—are available to keep everyone warm while browsing a cookie sale supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin.
The evening features several festive highlights: live music kicks things off at 5:30 p.m., followed by a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. with local dignitaries. Santa visits Jolly's Gingerbread House from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. for photos (suggested $5 donation supports Ronald McDonald House Charities), and the celebration wraps up with fireworks over the Milwaukee River at 6:45 p.m. and holiday music. This family-friendly event welcomes thousands of visitors annually and costs nothing to attend.
