Día de los Muertos Celebrations at the Milwaukee Art Museum

Join your family for an afternoon celebrating Día de los Muertos at the Milwaukee Art Museum. This hands-on event invites visitors to explore the rich traditions and beauty of this meaningful holiday through interactive art activities, live performances, and community participation. You'll have the chance to visit the museum's galleries, create art alongside guest artists including Rodrigo Carapia, Isa Castro, and Walker's Point Center for the Arts, and help build a Community Ofrenda with artists Gabriela Marván and Yesica Coria. Throughout the afternoon, you can pick up free activities from the ArtPack Station and meet local organizations. The celebration features live music from Mariachi Infantil and Mariachi Juvenil of the Latino Arts Strings Program at 11:30 a.m., followed by a dance performance by Ometochtli Mexican Folk Dance at 2 p.m. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free for museum members. General admission applies for non-members, making it an affordable way to introduce your children to cultural celebration and art-making all in one afternoon.
