Fright Hike- Lapham Peak State Park

Fright Hike at Lapham Peak State Park — spooky evening trail hike with live music.

Lapham Peak State Park transforms into a haunted hiking experience for its 27th annual Fright Hike. Local school groups create and perform spooky scenes along a rolling forest trail as you make your way through the moonlit woods. The roughly one-mile walk takes about 45 minutes to complete and winds over roots, mulch, and rocks—so wear sturdy, weather-appropriate shoes since trails can be muddy and uneven. This event draws around 4,000 visitors each year, so arrive early to experience the scares before the entrance closes at 8:30 pm. Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased online in advance (none are sold at the gate). This is a popular Halloween tradition that sells out quickly, so don't wait. The event is best suited for ages 12 and up. Keep in mind that strollers and wheelchairs aren't recommended due to trail conditions, and pets aren't permitted. You'll also need to pay a $5 vehicle fee to enter the state park, or bring a valid annual pass. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase, and all proceeds support the Friends of Lapham Peak's park improvement projects.
