Halloween Legends and Lore

Explore spooky stories and haunted history at this Halloween celebration.

Old World Wisconsin transforms into a spooky celebration of historic Halloween traditions across six Friday and Saturday evenings in October. Guests explore the Crossroads Village while experiencing live storytelling, folkloric performances, candlelit traditions, and more than 20 different activities. New attractions include a forest performance about "The Man in the Black Suit," a lost lumber camp search, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" told around a bonfire, and an All Souls' Day observation in a historic church. Returning favorites include a lantern-lit sorghum maze, a Victorian séance, performances of classic European folktales, and a trial connected to Wisconsin's "Beast of Bray Road" legend. Silent films shown in the barn round out the evening's mysteries. The experience runs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on select dates. Tickets range from $18 to $26. Dining options open at 4:00 p.m., so families can grab dinner before heading into the evening's attractions—the Clausing Barn offers food and drinks. With photo opportunities throughout the village and live musicians performing on-site, there's plenty for families to enjoy while stepping into the eerie traditions of the past. This event offers something for everyone looking for a family-friendly Halloween adventure that goes beyond typical trick-or-treating.
