Harbor Fest at UWM’s School of Freshwater Sciences (Harbor View Plaza)

Join Milwaukee for the 10th anniversary of Harbor Fest, a free celebration of the Inner Harbor and the waterways that make our community special. This year's theme, "What Lies Beneath," invites families to explore the hidden wonders of Milwaukee's waters through science, nature, and local culture. You'll find live music from local artists, free boat rides along the newly completed Harbor View Riverwalk, and food trucks serving up favorites for every taste. Kids can enjoy face painting and a bounce house throughout the afternoon, while interactive art installations and hands-on activities keep everyone engaged. Several highlights make this year particularly special. The UW-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences is opening its doors with behind-the-scenes exhibits on fish ecology, aquaculture, water chemistry, and climate change—meet the scientists doing this important work. If your family wants a more memorable experience, Riveredge Nature Center is hosting "Sturgeon Fest," where you can participate in a blessing ceremony and release a baby sturgeon into the harbor (limited spots available at sturgeonfest.org). Limited-edition commemorative t-shirts designed by local artist Bigshot Robot are available for preorder, with an option to enter a drawing for original artwork painted live at the event.
