Intergenerational playgroups
Free playgroup bringing toddlers and seniors together at Hartland Terrace.
Bring your child to join our monthly playgroups at Hartland Terrace, where young children connect with older residents in a relaxed, welcoming setting. During each two-hour session, you'll experience a structured yet playful program that includes a hello song, simple crafts, themed activities, free play, and a goodbye song. These gatherings create meaningful moments where children learn patience and respect while residents enjoy the energy and joy that kids naturally bring. By showing up regularly throughout the season, both children and residents get to know each other and build real friendships.
This experience benefits everyone involved—children develop social skills and empathy while interacting across generations, and seniors experience reduced isolation and a stronger sense of purpose and community. Registration is free, and all ages are welcome. We ask that families commit to the full session when possible so residents can look forward to seeing familiar faces each month. If you're interested in extending the experience, the Lake Country Mom Movement also organizes a coffee meetup and short walk to and from the facility on session days. To sign up or ask questions, contact brianna@kicmke.org. Spots are limited to 30 volunteers per session.
