MKE BrainExpo Neuroscience Festival at The MCW Alumni Center

Free neuroscience festival exploring how the brain works—hands-on STEM fun for kids.

Bring your family to explore how the brain works at this free, two-day festival hosted by the Medical College of Wisconsin. You'll move through interactive exhibits at your own pace, handling real brain specimens, watching brain waves light up, testing your memory, and discovering how your eyes can trick your perception. Scientists and volunteers are stationed throughout to answer questions and chat with curious visitors of all ages. Whether you're interested in how neurons connect, the latest brain imaging technology, or just want to see how your own brain processes information, there's something hands-on to experience at every station. The festival welcomes families, school groups, and solo explorers with no time commitment required—drop in for an hour or stay all day. Free parking is available, and food trucks will be on-site during midday hours both days (bring your own snacks if you prefer). The venue is wheelchair accessible, and activities are thoughtfully designed to engage kids and adults without being condescending. While you don't need to register in advance, the organizers encourage an RSVP so they can plan appropriately and send you updates. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows.
