Head to Retzer Nature Center this fall for a self-guided walk along the Blue Trail to discover creative scarecrow displays set up throughout the grounds. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the autumn colors and enjoy some time outdoors as a family. The walk begins near the Children's Garden and loops around to the scenic Retzer pond. Best of all, it's completely free and no registration is needed—just show up and explore at your own pace. If your family is feeling inspired, you're invited to build your own scarecrow at home and install it along the trail to become part of the display. There's no fee to participate, and groups of all kinds—families, schools, scouts, churches, and more—are welcome to take part. Just keep creations family-friendly and follow the simple installation instructions. Fair warning: the trails are unpaved with some slopes, and there's no lighting after dark, so plan your visit accordingly.
