Scarecrow Lane

Head to Retzer Nature Center to take a self-guided walk along the Blue Trail and see creative scarecrow displays throughout the grounds. This is a wonderful way to enjoy fall colors and get some outdoor time with your family. The walk starts near the Children's Garden on the west end of the Learning Center building and loops around to the scenic pond area. If you're feeling crafty, you can also build your own scarecrow at home and display it along the trail—there's no fee to participate. Just keep creations family-friendly, and if you submit one, you'll need to install it during the designated setup window. The trails feature woodchipped and mowed grass with some slopes, so wear appropriate footwear. The area is accessible from sunrise until 10 p.m., and admission is completely free. No registration needed—just show up and explore!
