Scarecrow Lane

Bring your family out to Retzer Nature Center this fall for a self-guided walk along Scarecrow Lane! Stroll the Blue Trail through autumn scenery and discover creative scarecrow displays set up by community members throughout the season. The walk starts near the Children's Garden and loops around to Retzer Pond, offering a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors and see fall colors while the kids burn off some energy. If your family is feeling creative, you can build your own scarecrow at home and display it along the trail—there's no fee to participate, and groups of all kinds (families, schools, scouts, sports teams, and more) are welcome to join in. Just keep designs family-friendly, print the ID card from the instructions, and install your creation during the designated setup dates. The trails are unpaved with some slopes, so wear appropriate shoes, and note that paths aren't lit after dark. Best of all, admission is completely free for visitors, and no registration is needed—just show up and explore!
