Scarecrow Lane

Walk through a spooky scarecrow-lined path at Retzer Nature Center—free Halloween fun.

Head to Retzer Nature Center this fall for a self-guided walk along the Blue Trail to admire creative scarecrow displays. Your family can stroll through autumn scenery, spot handmade scarecrows created by community members, and enjoy the fall colors around the property. The walk starts near the Children's Garden on the west end of the Learning Center building and loops around to scenic Retzer pond. If your family wants to participate by building a scarecrow, you're welcome to create one at home and install it on the provided stakes along the trail. There's no fee to display your creation, and all ages can join in. Just keep designs family-friendly, include a printed ID card, and install your scarecrow during the designated setup window. The trails are woodchipped and mowed with some gentle slopes, so wear appropriate footwear. Best of all, this activity is completely free and welcomes walk-ins—no registration needed.
