Head to Retzer Nature Center this fall for a fun self-guided walk along the Blue Trail to see creative scarecrow displays. The trail loops near the Children's Garden and winds toward the scenic pond, giving families a chance to enjoy autumn colors and get some outdoor activity in. The walk is open daily from sunrise until 10 p.m., with no registration needed—just show up! Want to make it even more special? You and your family can build your own scarecrow at home and install it at the nature center to join the display. It's completely free to participate, and groups of all kinds—families, schools, churches, scouts, and more—are welcome to add their creation. Just note that the trails are unpaved with some slopes, and there's no lighting after dark, so plan accordingly. Best of all, admission is free for most of the event, making this a budget-friendly way to celebrate the season.
