Scarecrow Lane

Head to Retzer Nature Center this fall for a self-guided walk along the Blue Trail to see creative scarecrow displays set up by families, schools, and community groups throughout the area. It's a lovely way to enjoy autumn colors and the outdoors while discovering one-of-a-kind scarecrow creations. The walk starts near the Children's Garden on the west end of the Learning Center building and loops around to the scenic Retzer pond. If your family is feeling inspired, you're welcome to build your own scarecrow at home and install it along the trail to be part of the display. It's completely free to participate—no registration needed, just walk-ins welcome. Keep in mind the trails are woodchipped and mowed grass with some slopes, so they're not paved or lit after dark. This is a great activity for getting kids outside and burning energy during the fall season.
