Scarecrow Lane

Head to Retzer Nature Center this fall for Scarecrow Lane, a self-guided walk where your family can discover creative scarecrow displays along the Blue Trail. It's a wonderful way to enjoy autumn colors and the season's crisp air while exploring the grounds from the Children's Garden near the Learning Center all the way to Retzer pond. The walk is completely free and open to everyone—just show up whenever works for your schedule. If your family feels inspired, you're also welcome to create your own scarecrow at home and display it along the trail. There's no fee to participate, and groups of all kinds—families, schools, scouts, sports teams, and more—are encouraged to join in. Just keep creations family-friendly, print the ID card from the instructions to attach to your scarecrow, and install it during the designated setup window. The trails are woodchipped and grassy with some slopes, so wear appropriate footwear; note that paths aren't paved or lit after dark.
