Starry Nights, Wilson Center

Pack a blanket or lawn chair and head to the Wilson Center for a free outdoor concert on the lawn of the Gerlach/Haack Outdoor Theater. This July 3 performance features the Wisconsin Philharmonic Orchestra celebrating America's 250th anniversary, with music beginning at 6:30 pm. It's one of the center's most beloved summer traditions, welcoming families and guests of all ages to enjoy live music under the stars. Bring your own picnic dinner, or grab food from vendors on-site—a full bar is also available. If you'd like to sit in a chair rather than on the grass, feel free to bring your own (pop-up tents aren't permitted to keep sightlines clear for everyone). A kids' zone with toys and games keeps younger children entertained before and between songs. While the event is completely free, the Wilson Center welcomes donations of $10 per person to support this summer music series. Picnic tables are available to rent in advance through their website if you prefer reserved seating. Concerts proceed rain or shine, though severe weather may move the performance indoors.
