Waukesha County Parks Presents Community Science: Bats

Join Master Naturalist Carrie Frantz for an evening of hands-on bat research. Using specialized audio detectors, you'll help scientists listen to and study the ultrasonic calls that bats make as they fly. This is real citizen science—the data you help collect contributes to ongoing research efforts. No experience necessary, and kids ages 5 and up are welcome. Best of all, participants can earn volunteer service hours while having fun outdoors. This free program runs for about 45 minutes and takes place at various Waukesha County Parks locations (rotating monthly June through August). Since it happens outside, dress for the weather and bring bug spray and water. Close-toed shoes and long pants are a good idea too. Keep in mind that the program needs at least five people to go ahead, and it may be rescheduled if weather turns bad.
